For a high quality air motor manufacturer, it’s imperative to have an in-house design office.

#1 Adapting an air motor to your needs

Put simply, it’s the difference between being able to provide a motor that is specifically adapted for a machine and what it needs to do, as opposed to a client adapting the use of the machine to what the air motor is able to do.

This approach is especially important in big industry where high performance machinery is critical to maintaining or, if required, increasing production output. If the right motor makes a machine more efficient and reliable, this is a huge advantage to a company – in particular the head engineer!

#2 A professional technical exchange

Qualified engineers in the design office have a technical knowledge on a par with the engineers at the client company, so from the start there is an exchange between both parties that leads to greater mutual understanding of what the client needs from the air motor and what solutions can be considered.

Often this dialogue leads to wider discussion of a client’s business and technical issues that can prompt a more holistic approach to any problems and solutions.

At Modec, our engineers are interested in, and motivated by, technical challenges. They work with clients to find the best solution, taking a flexible approach that may involve communication via email or a transfer or CD files, or making an on-site visit to see the machinery in operation and how the client wants it to work.

Each new challenge brings greater knowledge and experience, and today the design office team has a large repository of different technical solutions, gathered from a wide spectrum of industry sectors. This repository is a great platform for resolving complex technical issues more quickly and efficiently.

#4 From conception to delivery… and more…

Our design office works on an air motor solution from conception through to final production, usually in close co-operation with a client’s engineers. Any malfunctions and imperfections are put right during trials, and similarly if problems arise post sale, the engineers work together to identify and correct any sticking points.

For us, each order is a project rather than a sale. We work with a client to understand their needs, we design an air motor to meet these needs, draw up specifications, commission any special parts, assemble the motor and regularly go on site to check it’s correctly integrated into the machine. Without an in-house design team, such an integrated, full service would not be possible.
