# Air motors, no certificates required!

Unlike electric motors, no special training or certificates are necessary to operate an air motor. The risks of danger inherent in using machinery or equipment powered by electricity simply don’t come into play if you opt for a compressed air motor instead.
**Advantages**
Financial – your company saves the cost of sending employees on training courses, and refresher courses, to obtain and maintain the required safety knowledge for working with electricity. These courses cost around £500 per person, not forgetting any associated hotel and travel costs if there is no specialist training provider in your area.
Workforce flexibility – any operator in the company can work with machinery powered by an air motor, so you won’t need to check who has or doesn’t have the required certification. Similarly, when you want to bring in contract workers on a project, availability is not restricted to those with relevant electrical qualifications.
Peace of mind – knowing that your compressed air motors are virtually risk free, and not having to worry about valid certification, can be a weight off your shoulders. A simple way to get a little peace of mind…
**A question of supply**
Of course, one of the reasons many companies at first look to an electric motor is because almost every business has an electricity connection. That said, many industrial companies also have a ready supply of compressed air on site, in which case it’s just a question of linking it up to use in the different applications.
Compressed air is, in fact, the fourth most used energy source in industry, after electricity, natural gas and water. It doesn’t pollute, can be easily stored and is non-combustible, which means it is suitable for a wide range of uses, including production processing, to power machinery and tools, to inflate, to cool down, to withstand pressure, to check if something is airtight or waterproof, and the list goes on.
**So what would you choose?**
In short, there are numerous possibilities and advantages when there is a ready compressed air supply in an industrial work environment. Most importantly, of course, it means you have a ready supply to power the air motors in your tools and machinery.
