Modec range of air motors: introducing the MT10

Powerful and compact, our MT10 motors can generate 1200 W with only 2,1 kg and an external diameter of 60 mm only. We have declined this motor with three different versions to offer a wide range of solutions and use it for an important spectre of applications.

Our MT10 Easy Duty do not have any gearbox, it can deliver very high speed when necessary (up to 18 000 rpm).

When coupled with a standard gearbox, our Standard Duty MT10 can reach up to 100 N.m. with an intermediary range of speeds (150 to 1600 rpm).

We also offer a bigger gearbox from our “20” series motors range that fit to our MT10. With such configuration, our MT10 Heavy Duty can reach up to 630 N.m when you need high torque and low speed (30 to 120 Rpm). It is also a good solution when you want a stable speed, whatever is the torque you are applying on the motor. This set up is used in mixing solutions such as paint.

Example of applications with modec MT10 air motors:

Alternative to sand for pickling: the advantages of the air motor combined with pressurized water

Our client was looking for a motorization for its pickling machine working with water instead of sand (much more environmental friendly). The thing is, electric motors do not work well in humid environments.

To fit the requirements of the machine, they needed a 1000W reversible motor (that can turn right or left on request) with a moderate torque and speed. Our Standard Duty MT10 was the best fit. We also have a special solution with a handle directly on the engine, to start and stop the water flow. It is actually a "dead man" safety handle to protect the operator and prevent accidents so that if you do not have both hands on the engine, the machine automatically stops. It is also possible to adjust the machine's flow rate using the speed control handle

Lifting applications: conveyors, lifters and other load user assistance machines

Such machines require a high and determinate starting torque. The speed targeted is not very high. In order to fit in confined spaces, and due to the power required, we offered a MT10 motor coupled with an external gearbox which brings the advantage to offer a static irreversibility (when you stop to feed the motor, the machine stays at the initial position).

Some operations also require a precise and fix position. The solution we offered avoids the load inertia and once you stop the motor, you have an immediate stop of the conveyor, lifter or the charge you manipulate.

Another restriction is due to the environment: used in chemical or explosive area, such lifters have to follow the Atex certification and our solution can be Atex certified.

In the food industry, it is not possible to reject oil, dust or pollution in the air. In such cases, we use a lubrication free motor that only rejects clean air.

If the motor is close to the operator, a high performance silencer is plugged in order to reduce the noise level and respect the legislation.

The options available for the MT10 airmotor:

As an option, we have designed a large range of motor accessories and options:

  • KIT START: To prevent starting issues during a restart after a long period of disuse, we have designed the kit-start option. Indeed, after a long period of disuse the oil and the dust inside the pneumatic part can glue the vanes and avoid a correct restart.
  • LUBRICATION FREE: If you cannot reject any oil around the motor’s environment and you cannot collect the airflow from the exhaust to reject the air far away from the motor, you can use our lubrication free option. Equipped with a special stator, bearing and vanes, such motors can work without airflow’s lubrication. This is particularly adapted for food and beverage industries.
  • ATEX CERTIFICATION: If you work inside an explosive environment, we can Atex certify our motors and deliver them engraved with an Atex certificate. Modec follows the new Atex rules from 2016/04/19 according to the norm EN ISO 80079-36:2016 and - EN ISO 80079-37:2016.
  • COLLECTOR: in order to reduce the noise level close to the motor, we can offer a collected motor. It can also allow you to plug a silencer on the motor exhaust or a throttle to control the motor’s speed.
  • DEAD MAN HANBLE: We offer a dead man handle, to start and stop the motor manually when you drive a machine with an operator. For the reversible motors, we can add a trigger to change the rotation direction easily. Such handle offers safety with a safety trigger that comes as standard to prevent some accidental starting.

The MT10 maintenance:

We know that the motor is a key part inside our customer’s machines. To avoid any operations disruption that could be very expensive, our motors are available on stock and we can ship them within three days. We have also made dedicated maintenance kits that are on stock with all the parts we recommend you to replace each year. With such kit, you can anticipate breakdowns and maintain the motor during the production line shutdown.

To help you with the motor maintenance our maintenance kit comes with a motor exploded view and you can have a look on our YouTube channel to see our maintenance videos!

Commissioning:

We manufacture reliable and high quality air motors. If you want to obtain the maximum performances of our motors, we recommend you to follow our commissioning instructions carefully. To help you with it, you receive with the motor a quick start manual with inside the different key steps you have to follow during the commissioning.
