In this blog, we will talk about the Modec MT25 motor range. This motor is one of the most powerful motors in our range. It develops at 6.2 bars a power of 2700 W.
Compared to an electric motor, this air motor is very compact, and therefore has a size/power ratio that sets it apart from the competition.
For only 185 mm in length and 80 mm in diameter, modec offers a motor delivering a power of 2700 W.
As for the rest of the Modec range, this pneumatic solution is modular to your needs. The MT25 pneumatic motor exists with different sizes of gearboxes, allowing it to be as close as possible to your needs in terms of power, torque and speed.
In many applications, this motor is used with a right angle head, in order to optimize its use. Modec also offers the flexibility of having this air motor in a reversible version, as well as many options and accessories (specific flanges and shafts, Kit Start, without lubrication or ATEX II 2 GD c IIC T6 to T4 certification).
For use in specific fields - pharmaceutical, chemical or food industry, an exhaust collector is available as an option. As the exhaust is radial, this option sets modec apart from the competition on this type of pneumatic solution.
Speed: 0 - 12000 Rpm
Torque: 0 - 570 Nm
Weight: 4.6 kg with a straight output shaft and 4.7 kg with a right angle head.
Air supply pressure: 4 - 6.2 bar
In order to be closer to your needs and facilitate the integration of the air motor into your system, modec offers more than 100 different flanges and output shafts for the MT25 air motor.
All standard flanges and output shafts are shown in our motor catalog.
Modec also offers its customers the possibility to design and manufacture custom flanges and output shafts. To do so, we work in collaboration with our engineering team to provide you with drawings and 3D modeling of the solution. We also guarantee manufacturing quality within very short lead times.
Lifting systems are composed of a stand and a crane allowing to lift a load and then to move it. Using a gearbox and pulley system, the operator moves the load vertically and horizontally by turning cranks.
If the load is heavy, it is sometimes necessary to use a large gearbox to allow the hoist operator to lift the load. It is then necessary to make a very large number of crank turns to move the load. To solve this problem of gearbox size and number of crank turns, air-powered hoist solutions are available.
Here the air motor MT25 of the modec range has all the features to meet the specifications. Its starting torque is high, and therefore it can lift very heavy loads and has enough power to move the load quickly and safely.
The output shaft of the air motor is therefore directly connected thanks to a worm and wheel system connected to a cable-winding reel. The planetary gearbox provides a compact solution for heavy loads. It is important to use a toothed or braked worm and wheel system to secure the load so that it does not fall back down.
The MT25 motor uses air under pressure at 6.2 bars, which is present in most workshops.
We received a request from a paint manufacturer looking for an Atex pneumatic motorization solution for a project to improve the reliability of its finished product mixers. The "low cost" type air motors used by the mixer manufacturer resulted in numerous shutdowns, the costs of which were ultimately much higher than the cost of the motor. In addition, since the motors could not be repaired, each failure resulted in the replacement of the motor. In addition to the financial cost, there was also a great environmental cost.
By making a specific flange, no modification was necessary on the mixers for the substitution. The air motors that we delivered proved to be better adapted to the application than the original ones; their definition was not based on the simple choice of cost, but on the performance required for the proper functioning of the mixer.
In the end, our air motor is also more economical than the original one. More reliable, delivered with instructions and a maintenance kit, it allows preventive maintenance, which guarantees to avoid risks of production losses due to breakdowns.
As an option, we have designed a large range of motor accessories and options:
KIT START: To prevent starting issues during a restart after a long period of disuse, we have designed the kit-start option. Indeed, after a long period of disuse the oil and the dust inside the pneumatic part can glue the vanes and avoid a correct restart.
LUBRICATION FREE: If you cannot reject any oil around the motor’s environment and you cannot collect the airflow from the exhaust to reject the air far away from the motor, you can use our lubrication free option. Equipped with a special stator, bearing and vanes, such motors can work without airflow’s lubrication. This is particularly adapted for food and beverage industries.
ATEX CERTIFICATION: If you work inside an explosive environment, we can Atex certify our motors and deliver them engraved with an Atex certificate. Modec follows the new Atex rules from 2016/04/19 according to the norm EN ISO 80079-36:2016 and - EN ISO 80079-37:2016.
COLLECTOR: in order to reduce the noise level close to the motor, we can offer a collected motor. It can also allow you to plug a silencer on the motor exhaust or a throttle to control the motor’s speed.
DEAD MAN HANBLE: We offer a dead man handle, to start and stop the motor manually when you drive a machine with an operator. For the reversible motors, we can add a trigger to change the rotation direction easily. Such handle offers safety with a safety trigger that comes as standard to prevent some accidental starting.
We know that the motor is a key part inside our customer’s machines. To avoid any operations disruption that could be very expensive, our motors are available on stock and we can ship them within three days. We have also made dedicated maintenance kits that are on stock with all the parts we recommend you to replace each year. With such kit, you can anticipate breakdowns and maintain the motor during the production line shutdown.
To help you with the motor maintenance our maintenance kit comes with a motor exploded view and you can have a look on our YouTube channel to see our maintenance videos!
We manufacture reliable and high quality air motors. If you want to obtain the maximum performances of our motors, we recommend you to follow our commissioning instructions carefully. To help you with it, you receive with the motor a quick start manual with inside the different key steps you have to follow during the commissioning.
