How do you size the components necessary to run an air motor?
To answer this question, it is necessary to know the working principle of an air motor, as well as how it is used. The environment, and the standards for safety and implementation are some elements to consider as well. For more information, we recommend downloading our air motor handbook. Judiciously thinking about and sizing your system for running the air motor will allow you to get optimal performance from it in your application.
As you know from the introduction of this blog, nothing is set in stone. There are as many possibilities as there are situations or applications, and we invite you to discover a few examples for running the air motor.
Putting a motor in rotation and/or reversing its direction is easy to do with our NT motor line which integrates security with an on/off handle, avoiding unintentional starting, as well as a toggle to switch rotation on reversible motors.
It is also possible, on a large part of our line of motors, to mount a progressive control handle that will allow a speed control of the output shaft and which can also be combined with a rotation toggle.
Our “Safety Air Treatment Box”, or SATBox completes all these functions. The schematic diagrams for one-way and reversible motors follow:
Running a reversible motor while managing its power as a function of the direction of rotation is shown in the following schematic diagram:
Running a reversible motor while managing its speed as a function of the direction of rotation can be achieved by implementing the following:
Finally one last example, so as not to fall into the cliché of a random, disconnected list, a more complete diagram handling the opening / closing of a door.
For each of our motors, we provide recommendations for implementation and component sizing.
As you can see, there are many solutions for running the motor, so feel free to ask us your questions. We will be happy to share our experience and expertise with you, from the point of view of the operation as well as the running of your solutions.
