# 3 events I will definitely attend at Valveworld Americas to become a valves expert!

The Valve World Americas event will cover a variety of valve and valve-related topics that are essential to today’s valve market. There will be plenary presentations on a number of hot themes in the valve industry, including the future of shale gas and the outlook on the energy industry.

• Basic introduction to flow control
• Quarter-turn valves - including ball, plug and butterfly valves
• Common design features - such as end connections, gaskets, bonnets, stems, stem seals, seats, backseats and trims
• Self-acting valves - such as check valves
• Multi-turn valves - including gate, globe, needle, pinch and diaphragm valves
• Valve Applications - such as oil & gas production and transportation, refining, LNG, power generation, chemical processing and utility lines
• Topics relating to valve ratings, materials, testing and more• Problems, installation and maintenance

#### **Monday, June 19, 2017 – 9:00AM - 5:00AM – George R Brown Convention Center – Houston, TX, USA**
Greg Johnson has been in the valve industry for 37 years and is the president of United Valve, a 54-year-old valve service company located in Houston, Texas. He has been active in standards development activities for over 25 years in API, ISO and MSS. He is past-president of MSS as well as chairman of the VMA Education & Training committee. He also serves as chairman of the API sub-committee on piping and valves, manufacturers and contractors group.
Greg will be presenting a plenary on Tuesday, June 20th at 9:30AM on **"Becoming a Valve Expert"** and moderating the **Casting & Materials** workshop that morning.
