All steam power generation systems (nuclear power plant, thermal power plant, solar thermal power plant and thermodynamic power plant) have a major disadvantage, the valves driving the supply and steam line are heated by the latter, making the handling of hot valves complicated for operators.
Electricity is the most widely used form of energy in most sectors, there are different ways to produce electricity using steam. However, the principle remains the same, using an energy source to heat water (atomic fission in nuclear power plants, coal combustion in thermal power plants...etc). The water will therefore become steam and drive a turbine connected to an alternator, and this will create electricity.
Combustion remains the biggest drawback of these production systems. The steam flowing through the pipes heats the walls as well as the valves and handwheels. All of this makes valve interventions challenging for operators. The solution? Use a portable valve actuator to avoid direct contact with the handwheel of the heated valve, which can then be operated safely and effortlessly.
In some cases, the maintenance of these valves is also disrupted by their location. Indeed, installations can be buried in order to avoid potential damage caused by bad weather, the heat preventing users from carrying out effective maintenance. Every minute spent in these furnaces is an ordeal for the operators, not to mention the efforts made when opening and closing these valves. This is why our portable valve actuators are used in the maintenance of gas transporting systems.
The use of steam electric power generation systems has a problem: hot valves. Fluid or gas handling valves are heated by the steam in the tubes and their handling becomes dangerous for operators. Our portable valve actuators will allow fast and safe valve handling, protecting the operator from the heat of the valves.
